About me

I am an experienced Psycho-therapeutic Counsellor and Personal Development Coach

Gloucestershire, London and Worldwide.

I would describe myself as 'not your typical therapist'. with experience across varied sectors.

I completed my professional training in counselling, twenty four plus years ago, after three years of study and one year of supervised practice. I then started working with individuals.

I continued to go on to further study for two years - and qualified as a counsellor with Relate - the renowned counselling organisation for couples. I have now been seeing couples in my own private practice for 18 years and it is such rewarding work. Balancing the needs of two people at the same time, hearing both sides and remaining impartial - with postive outcomes always in mind.

During my time working as a couple counsellor, I extended my knowledge and gained certificates in working with - domestic violence and mental health issues in the couple relationship. Following on from these areas of training, I went forward to obtain further qualification with certificated training in working with survivors of sexual abuse. I remain committed to continual professional development as I continue to practice.

My reputation is based on my attention to clinical and professional excellence - and I am accredited with the British Associationfor Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) a professional body which has a code of ethics to which I adhere to.

I work between Cheltenham and London Harley Street practice, which I set up in 2012. My London H.S. clients have included, models, politicians, actors, radio hosts and high wealth individuals and entrepreneurs; who's issues and problems are honestly just the same as any human might face.

After many years of experience working with employee assistance providers, I now run my own EAP programme with clients in four countries. I truly love the work - and the employers must be happy, as they have stayed with my EAP programme for many years now.

To add on to the above, I have also been the principle therapist to Gloucestershire County Blind Society, and I am currently therapuetic crisis support for PFOA (police firearms officers association).

Just to make life more interesting many years back, I worked as a therapist in a catogory B prison, which gave me the experience of working with mental health crisis, in very difficult circumstances indeed.

Post qualifying - and after many years working with clients, I trained to be a supervisor of other therapist and professionals in the counselling or health profession with the Centre for Supervision and team Development and went on to supervise for cruse and for independent psychotherapists working in private practice - and other practitioners that work within organisations.

Not being one to turn down a challenge, I said yes when I was head hunted for the position of director of a large residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre. This provided a steep and valuable learning curve into the world of addiction therapy, and is probably part of my success with addiction clients ( nothing gets past me).

I am also a Bupa recognised provider, as well as a provider for other medical insurance companies.

I continue to be committed to a regular programme of continued professional development and have become knowledgeable in many other areas. Lately completing training in - working with relational trauma - disorganised attachment and mental health and the body

I am also a member of the Royal society of Medicine.

Coaching

I studied many years ago with the Newcastle College over a period of two years, firstly obtaining a certificate in coaching - and after a further period of study and working with clients, I obtained the diploma in personal development coaching. In my role as a coach I am honest, clear and direct helping my client to establish their goals and met their targets. My former clients include business leaders, professional sportsmen, and woman and men like you and I simply wanting to improve self confidence and reach their goals in life.

Management Support

Over the past 30 plus years I have acquired a varied repertoire with regard to the different business models; this has enabled me to expand my management experience. Here is a list of just a few: international equestrian centre, retail furniture, counselling providers and my role as the managing director of a private addiction clinic. I thank them all for the opportunity to help me acquire the skills needed to fully understand people and their important role in establishing and maintaining a successful business. Unhappy unfulfilled employees will stunt business growth quicker than any recession. Managers are often caught between two sectors - the employees and the senior executives. This can be a lonely place. I offer an opportunity to discuss all aspects in confidentiality.

Who am I when im not a therapist?

I am a passionate traveller and cyclist

Sometimes combining both

I have clients in many countries - including travelling with my work to Oman and India
